Based on its Core Strength of System Integration and Project Management, SIS has executed more than 100 projects worth more than INR 10 Million during last three years. Among these, components of the projects undertaken in last two years are a blend of Information Technology and Communication Technologies, falling under Convergence Category.

Some Noteworthy Projects from technology perspective are as follows.

Implementation of University LAN Infrastructure using NMEICT
NMEICT (National Mission for Education through ICT) is the first and crucial part of the ambitious The National Knowledge Network (NKN) Project of Government of India. The NKN project aims to enable all institutes of higher learning of the country to share the knowledge created on their campuses and make learning and research and development a collaborative process.

The National Knowledge Network will consist of an ultra-high speed Core (multiples of 10Gbps and upwards), and over 1500 nodes. It is scalable to higher speed and more nodes also. The Core shall be complemented with a distribution layer at appropriate speeds. The participating institutions can directly or through distribution layer connect to the National Knowledge Network at speeds of 100 Mbps /1 Gbps. The project envisages catering to Agriculture, Education, Health, e-governance and Grid Computing (High Performance Computing).

The architecture of the National Knowledge Network is scalable and the network has an ultra-high speed CORE (multiples of 10 gigabit per second), complimented with a Distribution layer at appropriate speeds. The participating institutions at the Edge shall connect to the National Knowledge Network seamlessly at speeds exceeding 1 Giga bits per second (Gbps). NKN is a Dedicated Owned IP-MPLS Network based on multiple λ’s of 10 Gbps in the CORE. The network architecture & governance structure shall allow the user institutions an option to connect to the Distribution layer through a last mile connectivity bandwidth. Architecture allows for direct connections to the CORE, Distribution, or Edge, depending upon the state of readiness of the user institution / organization.

Under the NME-ICT project the State POP (Point of Presence) of National Knowledge Network shall be linked to Universities and Colleges in a three tier arrangement. BSNL shall provide Optical Fiber Connectivity (OFC) of 1 Gbps from National Knowledge Network (NKN) CORE POP to End User POP at Universities, colleges and Institutions. And SIS will provide Routers, switches, Networking Services, Nodes for Local Area Network etc. for Universities, Colleges and Institutions.

Datacenters
BSNL and SIS have partnered to launch Dedicated Internet Data Centres across India to make available a computing facility with world class infrastructure and state of the art technology that is also highly environmental friendly. These Data Centres will offer a wide range of computing facility and services right from colocation to high end services like Cloud based services for the discerning subscribers, be it an individual, a SOHO, SMB or a large Enterprise.

The Data Centres, certified as Tier III and complying with TIA942 specifications, will be equipped with the best of the Power, Cooling and Connectivity solutions to deliver a highly redundant, highly available, highly secure and highly scalable Computing environment for computing needs of one and all.

These Data Centres will enable the customers to have a one stop shop for all the computing facilities, equipment and services. The highly trained professionals manning the Data Centre, along with the state of art infrastructure facility, will equip the customers with a cutting edge computing tool that slashes the CAPEX, provides latest computing infrastructure resources, optimizes the resources blocked and totally relieves him of the daily operational issues and the risk of technological obsolescence associated with self-owned IT infrastructure. Moreover by using the facilities of this Data Centre the customer espouses the world wide green initiative as these Data Centres are designed to be highly environmental friendly.

Voice and Video Over Broadband (VVOBB)
Another ambitious project from SIS-BSNL stable, VVOBB is set to revolutionize the way India as well as the world communicates.

It is estimated that by 2020 video will trigger 33 fold growth in the traffic and taking lead from this leaf, SIS and BSNL has already launched the Video Telephony Services on broad band in the country. The service has potential to offer many value added and essential services like Tele Medicine and Tele Education.

This project too is on PPP Mode and offers many services and scope for our customers and partners and hence we have created a special section “VVOBB” for detailed information on the products and services under this project.

NCRA (NATIONAL CENTRE FOR RADIO ASTROPHYSICS) – PUNE
This project includes Supply, Installation & configuration of Campus wide Local Area Network (LAN) at NCRA, Pune including both active and passive components with drawing up of final Bill of materials , Procurement of all active & passive components, Installation & configuration at NCRA including laying of cables including support and maintenance.

DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & COMMUNICATION (DOIT & C) – JAIPUR
This is a turnkey project which includes Supply and Installation of ICT equipment’s i.e. Desktops, Laptops, IP-Phones, Printers, MFPs and replacement of batteries and batteries/battery banks Under Sec LAN Project, Supply, installation and integration of equipment’s with Secretariat LAN – MAN within Secretariat and outside govt. buildings in Jaipur & also IP telephony facility to offices located across the state using NIC & Sec LAN-MAN networks.
